The Ashika-β (アシカーβ) is a scrapped enemy machine from Strider 2. It was planned to appear during the 3rd stage, Antarctica Research Lab. The enemy's name is based on "ashika" (葦鹿), the Japanese word for sea lion.
The Ashika-β is a small machine in the shape of a sea lion. This machine was a simple enemy that'd have attacked Hiryu in groups: They'd have appeared lined up in pairs, and using their detachable top as a spring they'd bounce a round, ball-like bomb toward Hiryu. The Ashika-β also sports tank wheels at the bottom, so it's presumed it'd also have been able to move on its own.
